Anything is Better Than New Year's Eve 2007...

Hello loves! So tonight is new year's eve and the girls and I will be going to the Purple Shamrock by Faneuil Hall around 10 to celebrate at a private party. The event is open bar and it's located a grand total of three blocks from our apartment...thank god because the weather in Boston is currently atrocious.

As you can imagine, I am very excited to meet all of my roommate's boyfriend's very attractive friends who will undoubtedly be there...but if all else fails, I'm sure I'll be seeing Comedy Club, the boy I've been seeing with for the past few weeks. He actually works at the improv club across the street from my apartment, so it would be pretty much impossible to not run into him on my Final Stumble Home of 2008. Either way, anything is better than last year...

Actually that whole story is kind of hilarious, so I'll recount it for you here. Last year I planned to go to a house party just outside of the city with a bunch of my guy friends from college. As I arrived at the party slightly late and very drunk, my friends began streaming out the front door because they wanted to go to a bar "nearby." I stashed my brown paper bagged bottle of champagne under a bush and happily followed them on an urban hiking adventure.

After a solid forty-five minutes and cutting through at least five backyards, we arrived at The Publick House, one of the snootiest and most overrated beer bars in existence. Midnight came and went without any recognition from the bar patrons and I was totally fed up. As luck would have it, a fairly attractive guy began hitting on me and suggested that I join him and his friends at their table. I obliged, and before long I managed to convince their entire group to hit up this crazy Asian-run bar across the street.

An hour and several shots later we all headed back to this guy's apartment. Debauchery ensued and I wound up crashing there. In the morning, after assembling myself and saying my goodbyes, I peaced out of there and headed for the T in my best walk of shame outfit to date.

After waiting at the T stop for what seemed like forever, I looked across the street and noticed an Anna's Tacqueria. All of a sudden, it hit me, THIS IS WHERE I HAD STARTED MY NIGHT! Without looking in either direction, I sprinted across the tracks in my 4 inch heels and hiked a little ways up the hill behind the liquor store. AND THERE IT WAS! My baby, my beautiful bottle of champagne from the night before was sticking it's little neck out from under the bush at me! I grabbed it and dashed back to the T stop, my fellow passengers completely befuddled. The T came and there I sat for the next half hour, all by myself in my sparkly blue party dress, towering heels, clinging to my bottle of champagne, and forgetting for a moment about all of the bad decisions I'd made the year before.

Awesome times. Here's hoping that tonight is a phenomenally sloppy time, in the best way possible. Have fun out there!

XOXO - Christine
